On Friday, 13 November 2020, Men-Tsee-Khang (Sowa-Rigpa) College in Dharamshala celebrated the 5th National Ayurveda Day. Since 2016, the Ministry of AYUSH has been observing “Ayurveda Day” every year on the occasion of Dhanwantari Jayanti (Dhanteras).
On this special occasion, 60 students and 10 faculty members of Men-Tsee-Khang College, Dharamsala, participated in a virtual conference chaired by the Honorable Prime Minister of India and attended by more than 20,000 participants from different parts of the country. Shri Narendra Modi ji dedicated to the nation, two future-ready Ayurveda institutions – the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar and the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur. The former was conferred the status of an Institution of National Importance (INI) by an Act of Parliament and the latter that of an Institution Deemed-to-be University (De-novo-Category) by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Men-Tsee-Khang (Sowa-Rigpa) College would like to heartily welcome this decision by the Honorable Prime Minister of India and also congratulate the Ministry of AYUSH for achieving another milestone in this noble pursuit of promoting ancient traditional schools of medicine. We would also like to extend our hearty congratulations to the ministry of AYUSH and India as a nation for WHO’s decision to choose India to set up Global Centre for Traditional Medicine.
