Men-Tsee-Khang Sowa-Rigpa Medical College Celebrates 10th International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2024

In conjunction with the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2024, Men-Tsee-Khang Sowa Rigpa Medical College & Hospital and District Ayush Department, Dharamshala observed the 10th anniversary with an early morning get-together to practice Pranayama and Asana sessions in the college hall.

The theme of this year IDY 2024 is Yoga: For Self and Society which emphasizes the dual benefit of Yoga for personal well-being and its positive impact on society. The students and faculty members did the Pranayama session, which Dr. Ashish Bhatia led whereas Asana was done under Dr. Ankita Sharma’s instruction of the District Ayush Dept.

As part of the newly introduced curriculum for the first professional SR undergraduate program, focusing on Disease Prevention and Sorig Yogic Science, and in compliance with directives from the affiliated University (Atal Medical & Research University at Mandia), weekly Yoga sessions are conducted to promote both physical and mental health. Dr. Migmar, a faculty member, leads these sessions every Wednesday.

Towards the end of the program, Dr. Ngawang Soepa, Principal thanked the duo facilitating doctors from the Ayush Dept. with a traditional scarf for collaborating with the College for the conduct of session on IDY, and in return, they expressed gratitude with a fruit juice for all the participants and thanked the college Principal for arranging this valuable session within a short notice. The celebration concluded with a group photograph, reaffirming the importance of integrating Yoga into our daily lifestyle for personal health and well-being that will have a positive and direct impact on the well-being of the community.
