Saka Dawa, or the meritorious month in Tibetan tradition

Saka Dawa, or the meritorious month in Tibetan tradition, occurs in the fourth month of the Tibetan calendar. The Tibetans venerate this month as the most sacred month of Buddha Shakya Muni because it marks three major events when one can earn merits and attain spirituality, purification, and enlightenment. Hence, our college students and faculty performed the thousand major offerings of the Eight Medicine Buddhas on the 6th of June or the 7th lunar day of the fourth month. On the 7th of June or 8th lunar day, medical students recited three Tantras from Tibetan medical treatises excluding the Oral Instruction Tantra, while astro-science students recited the External and Internal chapters of the Kalachakra Tantra.
