A six-day basic introductory course on Tibetan Medicine was conducted for the students of the University of Minnesota from 22nd May to 30th May 2023, at Men-Tsee-Khang Sowa-Rigpa Medical College. There were overall 9 participants with various educational backgrounds led by Dr. Tenzin Namdul, TMD, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Director of the Tibetan Healing Initiative Program, Center for Spirituality & Healing, University of Minnesota. This initiative program began in the year 2005 and since then, it has been continuously conducted every year, except for the last couple of years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The inaugural program started with a warm welcome address by the College Secretary, Mrs. Sonam Lhamo, a brief self introduction by the students attending the course, followed by an introductory address by Mr. Thupten Tsering, the director of Men-Tsee-Khang. In his speech he expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts made by the students in coming all the way from the US to acquire knowledge on Sowa-Rigpa. Thereafter, the actual course program commenced with four sessions of 75 minutes each every day, consisting of both lectures & workshop sessions. Towards the end of the course, the University of Minnesota (UM) group also delivered presentations to Men-Tsee-Khang (MTK) college students as a part of the program. The course concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the students in the presence of the Institute’s General Secretary, Mr. Tsering Phuntsok. The staff and students of UM and MTK shared immense joy for being able to resume this year’s program with much success and benefit to all. We all look forward to continuing this valuable exchange program in the coming years with the same determination and dedication.
